aboutMe

Shawn

D.S. Schoenhoeft story is an incredible journey of tragedy to triumph. He served his country proudly as an Infantryman and a Motor transport operator in the United States Army Reserves. Shawn also played baseball for an Independent Minor League team. Despite those achievements, Shawn faced many hardships. From childhood to adulthood.

  1.  As a baby, he almost died

  2. His dad abandon him and his sister when they were babies.

  3. His stepfather physically abused his mom

  4. He almost drowned as a teenager

  5. He got lost in a desert

  6. He faced death in the Army Basic Training

  7. He shouldn't be alive today because of things he had done in his life.

In 2015 Shawn would face the biggest battle of his life. He was diagnosed with P.T.S.D. from his time in the Army.

The P.T.S.D was destroying his life, his son's life, his relationship with the son's mother, and his family. All he wanted to do is commit suicide. Shawn dealt with the P.T.S.D. on his own like he was taught in the Army. He reverted back to his training in the Army to deal with the P.T.S.D.

1. Be emotional detach

2. Accept the fact that you’re already dead

3.ignoring-what your feeling inside

So he did what he was trained to do. It almost cost him his life and his family.

From nine years old tell 46 years old, Shawn didn't have a relationship with God. He only had a religion.

From 2005 tell 2018 he was lost battle PTSD, not having a relationship with God, and changing churches many times. he has attended over 10 churches.

He thought about cutting his wrist in the bathroom. But he didn't want his son walking in and seeing his body lying in a pool of blood.

He thought about hanging himself in his closet. But he didn't want his son to find him hanging in his closet.

Last he thought about driving his car off a bridge. But he thought he would fail as he failed at everything in his life. Plus he didn't want his son to have to take care of him because he failed at suicide and became paralyzed.

in 2018 he got tired and was at the end of his rope. He didn't want to live anymore. He decided to give it one more chance. So he attended the Mighty Oaks Warrior Program. It was at that program that he gave his heart and life to Jesus on October 19, 2018.

After getting saved he would face another battle. The battle was that he would never write a book about his life. His thoughts were always on who would want to read about his life.

But if he did write a book, his thoughts would be no church wants to hear your story, Plus because you have a service dog no church would want him or his dog there.

I believe with the story of my life and your congregation seeing me sharing God's word with my service dog. It will challenge them to step out and do something for God, Also it will challenge them to fulfill their vision that God gave them for their life.

Many Christian don't fulfill their vision that God gave them. I am feeling my vision and I'm doing it with my service dog.

To read my life story you can read it in my book titled: JESUS, ME, & P.T.S.D.
